I wrote a letter to my daughter on her birthday. She lives in Mumbai, so I can't meet her on every memorable day of her life but I want to thank this good source of communication by which we can keep in touch with our loving ones. Also want to share this letter with you-
Dear Priyanka,
It's been 30 years since you set foot in this world. When I held you for the first time in my arms at the hospital , your tiny hands were twitching and your eyes were shut tight. Your clenched fist reminded me of a science lesson that taught us how to get an idea about the size of your heart. I could imagine the little heart throbbing inside you. The eternal miracle of birth.
I feel there are two ways to raise you. One is to wean you on cynicism and live your life pouring scorn on everything you see. The other way is to prepare you to live in this world. Life is very precious and equally fragile. So every day is a gift enjoy it and follow your heart. The mind can waver but the heart seldom does. When you grow up,seek a job you love. Don't be overwhelmed about money. It's important for living but it has it's place. Don't make the mistake of putting it right on top.
Find your love, hold it dearly. Be a good wife, a patient mother and give your children space to make their mistakes. But hold them when they fall. But for this you have to give birth to your own child. This is the right time baby and this will give strength to your love for life. Give more importance to family than work. This is where happiness lies. At the end of the day, if you are not satisfied as a person, what have you done in your life. Live for today, want to be happy and keep everybody happy around you.
LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF
You never allow yourself to take off from work because you think everything would collapse without you around to hold it. Please go easy on yourself, Learn to Love yourself. Do you care for your mind and body as if they are the most precious things in your possession. When your attitude is - This is what I am, accept me or leave me. This also encourages you to accept those you love as they are, without attempting to change them. Let them live their dreams as we live ours. Despite living different dreams, we can still be together with our loved ones. In fact probably in a far more meaningful manner. What could you do to feel happy, here are some tips for you--
- Identify what makes you happy.
- Compete with yourself..
- Don't expect everyone to agree with you.
- Live life according to your beliefs without inconveniencing others and be happy.
- Live in the present, the past is dead and gone.
- Increase the sources of your happiness- gardening, exercising, meditating, singing etc.
- Limit your desires otherwise you get caught in the vicious spiral of infinite wants.
- Forgive and forget. Forgive your opponents who played dirty games with you.
- Keep your curiosity alive.
- Spend time with young company. Their happiness is infectious and costs nothing.
